Things to do

Or you could take a leisurely stroll along to Playa Chica and hire a jet-ski. If you’re travelling with the family, or fancy a change of scenery, the local waterpark makes for a fun-filled day out. And for those who want to stay out late in the resort, you’ll be pleased to hear that this place is Lanzarote’s nightlife hub, so bring your dancing shoes and glad rags for a great night out!

Puerto del Carmen sits overlooking 6km of gorgeous golden sand. Awarded the Blue Flag, these beaches are some of the best you’ll find anywhere, unspoilt with crystal waters just waiting for you to arrive. The Old Town’s harbour is a beautiful spot to stroll through and enjoy a meal at sunset.

Getting around Puerto del Carmen

By bus: There’s a reliable service running down the main street and out to nearby Arrecife (the island capital). It’s an affordable way to travel and the easiest way to make short journeys around the resort.

By car: Lanzarote’s roads are well maintained and signposted, and the island is small enough to reach any destination in around an hour. You’ll find plenty of hire car companies at Lanzarote Airport.

By taxi: Taxis run on a meter here and there’s a green light on their roof showing when they’re available. You’ll find taxi ranks in the resort centres as well as at the airport.

Events in Puerto del Carmen

Jameos Music Festival: Music fans will love this summer event, which brings top DJs from the Canary Islands, the US, Ibiza and the UK for a series of performances. It’s held in Jameos del Agua (a unique underground cave venue) during July, August and September.

Oktoberfest: You might not expect it, but Puerto del Carmen goes all out to celebrate Germany’s legendary event for a week in October. You can expect live music, stalls and costumes galore, and don’t forget about the hearty jugs of German beer and lots of bratwurst to go around, too.
