Playa Chica Beach in Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen's most popular beach is small, gentle and famous for its still waters as part of the bay. The immaculate sands are the best place for sun-worshippers to relax and soak up the rays, while the sea is buzzing with activity.
These still waters are hotspots for divers of all abilities, with the warm sea concealing an abundance of treasures. If you like to dive beneath the surface, make sure you see the El Veril de la Tiñosa, a stunning natural sea wall, as well as some truly fascinating sea beds. The unique biodiversity in these underwater caves has resulted in the bay being named a Special Area of Conservation within the European Natura 2000 Network.
If you're lucky, you might spot the bay's most famous occupant. Felix is a giant grouper fish weighing in at about 50kg! Visitors have made a point of trying to find him and grab a photo, with Felix happy to pose for the camera.
Out of the water, you'll find a nice selection of bars and restaurants which make for an excellent place to people watch or enjoy your favourite drink at sunset. To get to the beach, you'll find access from the streets Calle Bajamar or Calle Harimaguada.
