Whilst Ayia Napa has a reputation as a party town where you can dance all night (and day!), there's much more to do in this jewel on the south-east coast of Cyprus than just boogie the night away. The sea here is crystal clear and a perfect aquamarine blue, inviting you in for a swim or to enjoy water sports from jet skiing to pedalos. The soft white sands attract families and beach lovers looking to make the most of the sunshine.
As you'd expect from a tourist hot-spot, there's also plenty of other things to do in Ayia Napa that should keep everyone happy, as well as a wide choice of places to eat offering everything from local seafood to favourites like pizzas and burgers.
Nissi Beach
Nissi Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the town and is famed for its beautiful sand and gently shelving beach that drifts down to a shallow sea that's ideal for splashing in. It stretches for 500m, so you can find yourself a spot away from the crowds. There are plenty of cafés and bars lining the beachfront for when you're feeling peckish.
You can hire parasols and sun loungers and simply laze the day away, or take to the waves with a choice of water sports on offer. If you want to get away from the crowds for a bit, there are plenty of smaller coves to escape to, like the sandy Ayia Thelka Beach or the Blue Lagoon at Cape Greco.
Dolphin spotting and diving trips
Venture further out to sea on an organised boat trip. Leaving from the harbour, there are trips catering to all tastes, from dolphin spotting and diving on nearby wrecks like the Zenobia, to party yachts where you can have some fun afloat. If you're feeling energetic, hire a canoe or join a tour to explore the scenic sea caves at Cape Greco. If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on dry land, you can walk to this pretty spot along the coast path. Just don't forget to bring your trunks or cozzie, as the blue sea is seriously inviting especially after a hot walk! You'll also need your camera or phone, as this is a good selfie snap spot.
Water World waterpark
It can be tough to find things to do in Ayia Napa that'll keep everyone happy, but nobody can resist the lure of a day at a waterpark! Cooling off in the water takes centre stage at the Water World waterpark. Located on the edge of the town, this is Europe's largest themed waterpark with 35 slides and attractions for a fun-filled day for all the family. It's a must-do for most visitors to Ayia Napa, with everything from thrilling slides like Drop to Atlantis, and the waterworks playground for kids, to a grown-ups only pool complete with bubble benches, and everyone's favourite lazy river.
Party central
Let's not forget the nighclubs, bars and the parties either! There's entertainment for everyone in this vibrant town. Enjoy a sophisticated meal and glass of wine at the harbour, or sample authentic Cypriot fare at a white-washed tavern. Grab a laid-back lunch at a beachside café or on Nissi Avenue, or enjoy a lager for breakfast at a 24hr bar!
If you've still got enough energy after a busy day, you can dance to top international DJs at club nights or go totally wild at a foam party down at the town's main square or strip. If your idea of the best things to do in Ayia Napa involves dancing until dawn and then a stroll on the beach, this ever-popular resort will keep you happy all day and all night long!
