Ayia Napa holidays have a reputation as being a non-stop fun in the sun. Here you can dance 24 hours a day at a wide choice of bars and nightclubs, soak up the sun on one of the many Blue Flag beaches, hit the waterpark, or enjoy water sports from banana boat rides to scuba diving. Popular with a young crowd looking to make the most of their week or two in the sunshine, there’s a buzzing atmosphere that has earned the town the title of Cyprus’ party capital.

The nightlife here may be legendary, but there is lots to keep you busy during the daytime too. Let your toes sink into the soft golden sand on one of the town’s numerous beaches, or hire a sun lounger to sleep off the excesses of the night before. The water is crystal clear and very inviting so if you’re feeling adventurous, choose from the range of water sports on offer, like jet skiing or water skiing.
If you’re dreaming of a yachting lifestyle, sign up for a sailing trip to discover hidden coves. Got the kids with you? Head to the nearby Water World waterpark where you’ll find slides and a lazy river for more family fun.
Explore the stunning coastline
Ayia Napa’s coastline is a stunning mix of rocky headlands and beautiful beaches. If you fancy a little break from the hustle and bustle of Ayia Napa, a visit to the sea caves at Cape Greco is a must. You can hop aboard a boat and enter the caves from the sea or go via car or bus. No matter how you get there, make sure you stick around to watch the incredible sunset.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful dip in the pool or want to have fun racing down water slides, there’s plenty of fun for everyone at Water World Water Park.
Then there are the beautiful stretches of golden sands where the kids can build sandcastles and you can relax and unwind. Vibrant nightlife
When the sun goes down in Ayia Napa the party really begins. Every night the numerous bars and clubs play a great mix of music and plays host to many top DJs. Twice a week the popular Senior Frog’s bar swaps its normal location for the beach, for a party that will go on until the early hours.

By taxi: Travel by taxi is easy and relatively cheap. They run on a meter and are widely available, although if you’re planning on using a taxi to travel from the airport it may be worth booking in advance.
By car: Hiring a car gives you the freedom to explore when and where you want. The island is easy to get around and there are plenty of places to hire a vehicle in the resort, or you could pick one up at the airport.
By buggy: Buggies or quad bikes are a popular way of getting around in Ayia Napa. They provide cheap and speedy transport to the beach and around town. You must wear a helmet and you’ll need your driving licence to hire one.
Beer festival: The popular Ayia Napa Beer Festival takes place down by the harbour area every August. This week-long festival features live music, with bands and musicians from across Cyprus booked to keep the party going. Expect lots of food and of course, plenty of beer!
Summer festival: If you fancy experiencing some Cypriot culture and traditions, the Ayia Napa Summer Festival also takes place every August in the main square, Seferis. The event features a programme of events including exhibitions, free concerts and performances, and is a great way to get a taste of traditional Cypriot culture.

So long as you watch what you spend, a holiday in Ayia Napa can be very affordable. A meal in a cheap restaurant will set you back about 10 euros, while a splash out dinner for two can run a bill of up to about 55 euros including drinks (a half litre of beer is about 3 euro). If you’re not going all-inclusive, you can make decent savings on food by buying locally grown produce at the supermarket.
The go-to destination for knick knacks and souvenirs in Ayia Napa is Nissi Avenue, a street which runs through the centre of town. Plaza Shopping Centre, located just behind Katsarka Beach is a good starting point. From there, you can wander west along Nissi Avenue to Stathis Shopping Center, which is not too far from Nissi Beach.
For a slightly more upscale shopping experience, there’s also Makarios Avenue on the east side of the Ayia Napa, where you’ll find designer boutiques and recognisable brands such as Calvin Klein, Ben Sherman and Lacoste.
During the summer months, you can check out Ayia Thekla Market. Every wednesday from 8am till 2pm, you’ll find a cluster of around 50 stalls selling a range of trinkets, books and farmers market produce.
If you’re eating out in Ayia Napa, your best bet is local Cypriot food, which is a fusion of Greek and Turkish flavours - think fresh Mediterranean produce mixed with Middle Eastern spices.
For a traditional meal in a historic taverna, head to Napa Tavern. The restaurant dates back to 1932 and their menu features traditional recipes that have been passed down for generations.
