4 Things to do in Playa de las Americas

There's plenty to keep you occupied in the lively and family-friendly resort of Playa de las Americas. Beach lovers may be happy to spend every day stretched out in worship of the sun at the choice of sheltered beaches in and around the town. If you prefer to see what lives under the waves then the clear blue seas may draw you in for a dip, or to try one of the many water sports on offer. Things to do in Play de las Americas are sure to keep everyone entertained, whether you like it laid back and casual, or upbeat and energetic! If you're here for the legendary nightlife, you'll find bars and clubs offering every type of entertainment, from all night parties to laid-back jazz or fun karaoke bars. And there's lots of attractions nearby if you fancy a day away from the hotel pool.

Troya Beach

Troya Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the town, attracting a mix of families, groups, and couples. It has fine, light volcanic sand that gently shelves into the calm sea, making it the ideal spot for little ones to play, or toe dippers to have a paddle. Here you can rent a sun lounger and parasol, hire a jet-ski or to book a ride on a banana boat. There's a choice of bars and cafés conveniently located directly behind the beach if you're in need of refreshments.

Siam Park

Away from the beach, thrill-seekers can keep their cool at the Siam Park waterpark a short bus ride or walk from the town centre. From adrenalin-pumping slides and river rapids to a more relaxing float along the lazy river or splash in the kids' pools, it's a must-do for families and groups looking for fun. Set in a lush park of palm trees and exotic plants, it's bright, colourful and has been crowned the best waterpark in the world by Trip Advisor.

Dancing fountains

For a different sort of entertainment, the dancing fountain in the town attracts lots of visitors every night. The water fountains move in time to music and are illuminated by lights to create a truly mesmerising sight. You'll find it in the Safari Shopping Centre and it's the ideal spot for a pit stop between hitting the shops, especially if you grab a drink and pull up a chair at one of the bars overlooking the fountain. If you want to do the dancing, you'll find a wide choice of nightclubs down on the main strip as well as beach clubs. Playa de las Americas is known as the party capital of the island, and has plenty of venues to cater to every taste and budget. From comedy clubs to cocktails at sundown, you can take your pick.
