To help you plan your getaway, we've put together a list of things to do in Agadir; it's up to you to pick your favourite.

1. Relax on Agadir Beach

For many visitors to Agadir, a day on the beach is the top priority. You'll find an inviting 10km crescent-shaped bay here, covered in silky-soft, golden sand. With that much room on offer, there's always a great spot for sunbathing or lazing, and although it brushes up against the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, you'll be sheltered from the strong Atlantic winds here. The beach is always well maintained and there are lifeguards on patrol during the busy summer months.

2. Explore La Médina d'Agadir

Just a few miles beyond the city centre, you'll discover La Médina d'Agadir; it's a life-size recreation of the original medina that was destroyed by the earthquake. Rebuilt in 1992 using traditional Berber techniques, it's a work of art and a museum at the same time. And you'll find lots of local artist showcasing their work here.

3. Hike to the Agadir Kasbah

Sitting on top of a hill in the city's oldest district, you'll discover the Kasbah; it's a set of fortifications dating back to 1541, and one of the few buildings that wasn't flattened by the earthquake in 1960. It's well worth setting aside some time on your holiday to hike up to the top. When you get there, you'll find a fine example of medieval Arabic architecture, and you can expect spectacular views over the city and the glistening coastline, too.

4. Shop in Souk El Had d'Agadir

One of the best ways to experience traditional Moroccan culture is by experiencing a traditional souk (or market). Agadir's most impressive is the Souk el Had. This is where many of the locals pick up their shopping, and there's a superb atmosphere here. You won't be able to resist picking up a souvenir or two, look out for lovely leather goods and spices galore.
