Puerto Rico Nightlife: Bars & Clubs
Looking for ideas on where to head out in Puerto Rico after dark? Then check out our quick Puerto Rico nightlife guide to one of the hottest resorts in Gran Canaria On the sunny southwest coast of Gran Canaria, Puerto Rico is a bit more sedate than Playa del Inglés and is popular with families. However, you'll still find plenty of clubs and bars at this resort, with families preferring the Europe Center, particularly in the peak season.
Nights out in Puerto Rico
Like other resorts in the Canary Islands, you'll find something for every taste when it comes to Puerto Rico nightlife. From cabaret and karaoke to pub quizzes and darts tournaments, nightlife venues here cater to a mixed crowd.
One of the main advantages of staying in Puerto Rico is that all of the nightlife venues are within walking distance of one another, which is perfect if you fancy moving from place to place or doing a pub crawl. Like in Playa del Inglés, much of the live entertainment in hotels and nightlife venues in Puerto Rico is provided in English, and you'll notice this resort is popular with many British and Irish holidaymakers.
While it's warm all year round in Puerto Rico, it does get quite fresh at night in the winter and early spring, when temperatures often dip to the low teens ℃. Therefore, it's a good idea to bring an extra layer of clothing if you know you'll be staying out until late to make the most of Puerto Rico's nightlife.
Clubbing in Puerto Rico
If you keen to hit the dance floors, remember that Puerto Rico nightlife really doesn't get started until after 11pm or midnight, great if your idea of nightlife is partying well into the early hours! Clubs can get quite busy in the peak season in the summer, when entrance fees and drinks may be more expensive, although this is when Puerto Rico is at its liveliest.
If you're after somewhere quieter, head to the harbour area, where you can order a glass of Canarian wine and gaze at the beautiful boats. Or if you want more choice in terms of clubbing, take a taxi or an evening bus to Playa del Inglés, which has a much wider selection of bars and clubs than Puerto Rico's nightlife. If you do choose a taxi, always agree the fare before you set off, especially after dark when prices are often much higher.
