Maspalomas nightlife is much quieter than that of Playa del Inglés, although they're very close neighbours, and you can easily walk to Playa del Inglés if you fancy something a little more energetic in the evenings. Playa del Inglés is just to the east and is best known for its vast golden sandy beach and promenade. However, if you're looking for more of a chilled-out vibe, Maspalomas nightlife fits the bill perfectly.
Close to the island's natural wonders
In the far south of Gran Canaria, right next to the famous Dunes of Maspalomas, this popular resort is one of the warmest destinations in the Canary Islands, thanks to its sheltered location and protection from cooler northerly winds. If you're looking for plenty of peace and quiet, but easy access to some of the island's best nightlife by bus or taxi, Maspalomas is a great base.
Bars and clubs in Maspalomas
If you do want to head over to Playa del Inglés after visiting Maspalomas' bars, you'll find many of the best clubs and bars in Gran Canaria here. One of the main attractions is the Yumbo Centre, which is the epicentre of Gran Canaria's gay scene and is also home to dozens of shops and restaurants. The Yumbo Centre actually has over 30 LGBT-themed venues and hosts an annual Gay Pride event, which welcomes tens of thousands of visitors.
By day, buses are an inexpensive way to travel between each resort if you don't fancy walking. Whenever you want to escape the crowds, head to the huge sand dunes, which look amazing at sunset and can be explored by foot or camel.
Entertainment
In terms of live entertainment, much of the nightlife in Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés bars doesn't really get going until around 9pm or 10pm. This often continues until past midnight, but you'll find plenty of taxis that will take you back to Maspalomas, normally in just a few minutes. Just remember to always check the fare before you set off.
If you're staying at an All Inclusive hotel in Maspalomas, you may have a daily entertainment programme with comedy, concerts, and a live DJ, which is convenient if you'd prefer to stay put in the evenings rather than go out to other Maspalomas bars.
