6 Things to do in Caleta de Fuste

A purpose-built holiday resort set in the sunny Canary Islands, Caleta de Fuste has everything you could need from a beach holiday. The beaches there have also been man-made, importing tons of golden sand and shaping the coastline to create stretches of sand that are safe for those travelling with younger children. Whether you're travelling with the whole family or enjoying a romantic getaway with a loved one, you might need some entertainment to keep everyone happy. Don't panic! You'll find plenty of things to do in Caleta de Fuste, whatever your interests.

We're going to the zoo

While chilling out on the beaches and soaking up the sun are the most popular things to do in Caleta de Fuste, there are plenty of nearby attractions. If your little ones like animals, then be sure to take a trip to Oasis Park Fuerteventura. Don't worry if you don't have a car; the park operates its own free shuttle-buses that stop at most of the major hotels. The park is set in beautiful, botanical gardens, which are blooming with exotic plants and cacti.

Don't pass the salt

For something a little out of the ordinary, pay a visit to the Salt Museum, about 20 minutes' drive from the resort. One of the more unusual things to do in Caleta de Fuste, you can learn how salt is produced; explore the old salt mines, and see the famous salt flats. Alternatively, if you prefer your salt in the form of seawater, head to the Oceanarium Explorer. A marine-life park, it offers the opportunity to swim with sea-lions or see shimmering shoals of fish, from the dry comfort of a glass-bottomed boat.

Golfing and shopping

Golfers looking for things to do in Caleta de Fuste won't feel short-changed. The resort is home to two 18-hole golf courses, designed to challenge everyone from newbies to seasoned five-iron fanatics. If there are shoppers in your group, don't pass up the opportunity to go to the resort's markets. The street market takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays and is held in Montecastillo. For handmade goods and unusual souvenirs, the craft market takes place in the Town Square every Friday. Bargain-hunting is something of a national pastime in Fuerteventura and can be one of the most rewarding things to do in Caleta de Fuste.
