Getting around Caleta de Fuste

By car: If you’re interested in taking day trips and exploring the island, hiring a car is your best bet. The roads are good in Fuerteventura, and the island is small enough to get across in a couple of hours. However, check out the documentation you’ll need before you travel and remember the Golden Rule of driving on the right!

By bus: Buses are clean, prompt, and reliable. There are 16 bus-routes, covering most of the island, making this a great way to soak up the scenery without having to worry about driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and where you’re going to park!

By bike: Perhaps the most tranquil way of seeing the sights, cycling is very popular in Caleta de Fuste. There are dedicated cycle-paths and trails and bike-hire companies are in plentiful supply.

For jazz fans: If you’re a jazz fan, take your Caleta de Fuste holidays in July, when venues across the Canary Islands are serenaded with the sounds of some of the genre’s most-respected musicians. 

Kite Festival: A favourite event in Fuerteventura is the International Kite Festival, held in November in the resort of Corralejo. Thousands of kite enthusiasts come to fly on the island’s famous sand dunes, with special events for kids. 

Arts and crafts: If you’re looking for unique and unusual gifts or mementos from your holiday, Fuerteventura’s Annual Craft Fair is the biggest of its kind in the Canary Islands. Artists and handicraft makers come from across the Canaries to set up stalls at this four-day event in May.
