Best Beaches in Palma De Mallorca
If you’re planning a holiday to Palma de Mallorca, you’re almost certainly thinking about time on the beach. The capital of the Balaeric Islands, Palma, which sits on the largest island, Majorca, is a favourite destination thanks to its beautiful sandy stretches and many considerate facilities. So you’ve chosen an excellent spot for a beach holiday!
Playa de Palma
Platja de Palma, or Palma Beach, is an easy first stop on your tour of the local coast. The beach is backed by hotels, restaurants, bars, and palm trees. It attracts families and groups for sunbathing, swimming, and watersports in the Bay of Palma. The seafront promenade is ideal for a stroll or cycle, choosing out a spot to lay down your towels and enjoy the seaside atmosphere.
By night, Platja de Palma transforms into a bustling hub for nightlife. Cocktail bars and nightclubs send music into the air, creating an irresistible Spanish holiday atmosphere that visitors to Palma can’t help but love.
Playa de Palma El Arenal
Next to Playa de Palma, which stretches east from Palma city centre, visitors can find the bustling village of El Arenal. The beach here is beautiful, boasting golden white sand and shallow waters, perfect for children who want to swim and play.
Since it’s a little further out of Palma, El Arenal beach is often less busy. Head over and grab a seafront spot, then stroll into the shady streets of the village to cool off if the sun gets too much.
Caló des Moro
If secluded beaches and bright, turquoise waters are more your style, you won’t want to miss Caló des Moro. This picturesque spot is tucked in a cove around an hour’s drive out of Palma, so you’ll need to have hired a car to reach it. There’s a short but steep walk to get to the beach when you arrive. The best spots always require a bit of work!
Caló des Moro can get busy at peak times. If you want to swim somewhere with fewer people around, hop over the peninsula to Cala s’Almunia and slide in off the rocks.
Playa de Cala Major
Cala Major is another bustling, sheltered sandy beach that can be a beautiful suntrap for swimming and relaxing on the sand. It’s just a few kilometres west of Palma, so you can walk or take a taxi or bus, depending on your mood.
When you’re there, settle down under an umbrella and enjoy! There are beach bars scattered around the edge of the sand, so you can pop in for a drink and a bite to eat at leisure.
Cala Cap Falcó
Head towards Magaluf, then keep going until you get to Cala Cap Falcó, a beautiful, small, and secluded beach offering a break from the crowds of Palma. This hidden treasure lies inside a narrow bay, with bright, shallow waters ideal for paddling to cool off.
There’s paid parking close to the beach, so getting here won’t be a problem if you’ve hired a car. You can also grab a lounger and umbrella for a small fee, then settle in for a memorable day in Majorca.
Palma Nova Beach
Adjoining Magaluf, Palma Nova is another purpose-built holiday resort with a bustling beach for visitors to enjoy. Expect soft sands, a beautiful Mediterranean sea, and lots of facilities to make you feel comfortable. It can get busy here, but the beach is large with plenty of space to spread out. The atmosphere is always great, so settle in.
