Majorca Water Sports

Majorca might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of scuba diving but it's perfect for it. The sea here's not only clear, it's also a comfortable temperature for lingering to watch the fish. You'll find the main diving centres on Cala Gran beach and at Cala Ferrera, plus some of the hotels have their own.

Other popular water sports include paddleboarding and sailing, so you could fill your holiday with adventures on the sea if you want to. The snorkelling's pretty good here too, thanks to the calm waters in the little coves. It's one of the best things for families to do in Cala d'Or, as you can spend hours dipping in and out of the water looking for sealife together.

Boat trips are also a lot of fun for kids, and there are plenty to choose from. You might like to charter your own boat (with or without a skipper) for a private trip to wherever you want to go. If you'd prefer to explore the coastline on land, there are some beautiful cycling trails amongst the pine trees. Take a picnic and stop off at a sandy beach, or pop into a local café along the way. It's a great way to see some of the area's more hidden coves. You could even cycle to the nearby resort of Porto Cristo, where you'll find one of Majorca's most famous natural attractions: the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves).
