Rarity Gallery in Mykonos
Prepare for a fascinating experience when you visit the Rarity Gallery. Found in the heart of Mykonos Town, the gallery is a wonderful way to spend a morning as you explore the island's capital.
Established over 20 years ago, the gallery was the first in Greece to exhibit the works of internationally recognised contemporary artists. You can see all kinds of art, ranging from sculptures to paintings and photographs, by newer artists and more established names. There's usually around five solo exhibitions each year, which take place over summer, so check to see what's on while you're in town. At other times the collections can seem a bit haphazard, but the curators have carefully selected and arranged each piece to make for an entertaining journey.
If you're interested in buying something that catches your eye, you can speak to one of the curators and find out how much the piece costs. Just be careful if there's no tag on the artwork you like, as you don't want to pay over the odds for something that might not be worth that much. If you love it you may not mind what the price is.
After your trip to the Rarity Gallery, pick one of the many traditional tavernas nearby to have a bite, then continue your sightseeing at the Church of Paraportiani with its views across the Aegean Sea. When it's time to relax, head to Elia Beach and enjoy a restful afternoon surrounded by stunning scenery.
