Prague Old Town

Visit Prague’s Old Town and prepare to be transported back in time as you stand among centuries-old medieval buildings. Centred around the Old Town Square, the ancient area of the city is full of historical sights, so make sure you set aside an entire day to fit in all the sights. From local markets to beautiful churches, there’s plenty to see and do in the Old Town.

Starting at the 12th century square, climb the Old Town Hall Tower for great views before exploring the Baroque architecture at St Nicholas Church, the huge Gothic towers at Tyn Church, and the art on display at Kinsky Palace. Look out for House at the Minute, the childhood home of novelist Franz Kafka.

After looking around the main sights, relax and enjoy a spot of people watching at an open-air café. The Old Town Square is full of life, with street performers providing entertainment as you soak up the unique atmosphere.

When you’ve finished your coffee, go to the Prague National Gallery to see collections of art through the ages.

Although the Old Town is full of landmarks, there’s no better way to enjoy Prague than aimlessly wandering through the cobbled streets, getting lost in a maze of medieval buildings. If you prefer a planned approach, take a guided tour of the Old Town to discover more about its history from the medieval ages, through the two World Wars, and right up to the present day.
