Prague Zoo

If you’re travelling with children or fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, a trip to Prague Zoo is a great way to spend the day. Regarded as one of the best zoos in the world, it’s easy to reach the huge wooded park by public transport, making it an excellent trip from the centre. From penguins to lions and elephants to giraffes, you’ll see more than 650 species of animals at Prague Zoo.

As you walk up and down the hilly paths, past big natural enclosures and along the banks of the River Vltava, you’ll enjoy the beautiful landscapes just as much as seeing the animals. During your visit, you’ll discover carefully built habitats including Hippo House, Gorilla Pavilion, the Parrot Trail and Lemur Island. As you walk through the Indonesian Jungle, look out for fruit bats, komodo dragons and orangutans.

On your visit to each enclosure, you’ll see that welfare is top of the agenda for the zoo, backed up by their commitment to conservation projects onsite and across the world.

If you have kids, there’s plenty to keep them happy in the park. Scale the huge climbing frames at the Bororo Reserve play area, and pay a visit to the dedicated children’s zoo where the little ones can feed animals such as rabbits, ducks and sheep.

Then, when you and the family get hungry, sit down for some food and drink at one of the zoo’s restaurants or grab a snack from the refreshment stands.
