Promenade des Anglais in Nice

Take in views across the Mediterranean as you walk along the famous Promenade des Anglais. The most recognisable promenade in all of France, the seafront along the Baie des Anges, named after the English expats who paid for it to be built in the early 19th century, is a lovely place to spend a few relaxing hours in Nice.

Stretching along the seafront for seven kilometres, you’ll see locals, holidaymakers, cyclists and rollerbladers all enjoying the promenade. If you’re feeling energetic you can rent bikes, skates and scooters, or even take a Segway ride along the front.

As you walk along the Promenade des Anglais, you’ll come across lots of different landmarks including the La Chaise de SAB, a giant sculpture of the iconic blue lounge chairs. Look out for the art deco buildings, including Palais de la Mediterranee, before relaxing with a drink and admiring the views of the clear blue seas.

Take your time walking along the promenade, relaxing in the shade of the palm trees and taking plenty of photos along the way. There are lots of cafés and restaurants, which are perfect for a spot of people watching.

After your visit to the promenade, there are plenty of attractions, including Phoenix Park and the Museum of Asian Arts, within walking distance. If you’re in Nice between February and March, you may even get to see Nice Carnival which parades through the city and along the Promenade des Anglais. The annual highlight is the Prom Party, when live music brings the seafront to life.
