Things to do
As Monaco is a sovereign city-state, it has its own royal family. You can see their humble dwelling with a visit to the Prince’s Palace, and during the main tourist season you can even explore parts of the interior. After taking some pictures in the Place du Palais head to the nearby Oceanographic Museum, which is just as worthy of its own photos. After admiring the building step inside to see some wonderful exhibits, before moving on to the magnificent Saint Nicholas Cathedral.
After learning about the city’s regal roots, make sure you put the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix in your diary. The iconic race brings together the rich and famous in a cacophony of glamour that is hard to rival anywhere else in the world. Feel the buzz as Monte Carlo comes alive with even more parties and stunning yachts as this prestigious event unfolds. It’s a great time to be in town even if you have no interest in motorsport.
As well as the glitzy side of things, there are plenty of beautiful attractions to admire in this picturesque spot on the French Riviera. Stroll through the impressive Jardin Exotique before you head to Larvotto Beach for a relaxing afternoon. With your batteries recharged, venture out for a luxurious meal at one of Monte Carlo’s opulent restaurants, then find a bar with a terrace to sip champagne with views out across the Mediterranean.
