Jungle Island in Miami

It's time to go wild in Florida! Take the family to Miami's incredible Jungle Island, which is guaranteed to provide hours of fun for adults and children. Explore the different themed zones to see the huge variety of animals from all over the world.

About Jungle Island

Founded in 1936, Jungle Island Miami was originally a parrot jungle in south Miami and was best known for its beautiful pink flamingos and, of course, its parrots! Since then, it has rapidly expanded, and moved to its current location in 2003, following years of planning and redevelopment after the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

Or book a Go Wild VIP Tour 90-minute walking tour or a three-hour Go Wilder VIP Tour safari experience. These VIP experiences will enable you to get up close to Jungle Island's most exciting animals, from monkeys to alligators (although we're guessing you don't get too close to the alligators!).

The Ed-Venture Camp

In summer, Jungle Island Miami organises a special Ed-venture camp for children, where they can take part in learning sessions, games, animal encounters, arts and crafts, and other activities. The week-long programme is a fantastic opportunity for them to learn about different animal habitats, conservation programmes, and what it's like to be a zookeeper. All participants will receive a big bunch of freebies, from snacks and a camp T-shirt to a Jungle Island logo backpack and a Souvenir Jungle Island Safari hat.

How to get to Jungle Island

Jungle Island is on Watson Island Park, just a short drive from Downtown Miami, so it's very easy to get to, especially if you're staying in the centre of Miami. The easiest way to reach the attraction is to take the MacArthur Causeway (I-395) and exit 2D if you're travelling from I-95, or make a right turn after Palm Island if you're driving the east. There's also a regular bus service to the island on Routes C, M, S, and 120, so hiring a car during your trip to Miami isn't essential.

Practical information

Buy a one-day pass for access to all the animal exhibits, shows and the children's playground. Or, if you're staying in Miami for a while or visiting the city again soon, consider a Jungle Island Annual Pass, which will also give you the chance to see some Australian red kangaroos. Jungle Island Miami is open to visitors all year round, although the park may close during severe weather. During special events the opening hours may also be extended, and it's a good idea to check this in advance so you don't miss out.
