Venetian Pool in Miami

If you're eager to get away from the sand and the hotel pool for a while but still want to cool off, head over to the amazing Venetian Pool in the Coral Gables area of Miami.

A history of the Venetian Pool

Tucked away in the stylish Coconut Grove neighbourhood and created by entrepreneurs in the late 19th century, this pool was built with coral rock and holds an amazing 820,000 gallons of water. This is no ordinary swimming pool, and it's the only pool in the country to be on the National Historic Register.

The Venetian Pool Miami was originally known as the Venetian Casino, and was designed in a Mediterranean style and crafted out of limestone from a local quarry. Over the years, it has welcomed many celebrities, and was also hired for big concerts, when all the water would be drained to provide space for an orchestra on the pool floor. The acoustics are amazing!

The perfect place to take some time out

With its elegant Italian-themed décor and tropical plants, the Venetian Pool feels like a luxury five-star retreat. Relax and unwind by the tumbling waterfalls, explore the Venetian bridges, or just sit back on the terrace and soak up the sun.

Plenty of space for swimming and splashing

The Venetian Pool Miami is unusually large, so even on the busiest days you'll still find there's lots of space to move around, and it won't feel as crowded as a normal hotel pool. The pool is filled with spring water from underground, and it's safe for the little ones, too, as there are always lifeguards on duty. It can attract a lot of visitors in the summer, so if you want to be sure to get in, then get here early before the pool reaches its maximum capacity and they close the doors. This is designed to ensure the pool never becomes too busy during peak times like summer weekends. Whenever you're feeling a bit hungry, simply head to the café for some tasty hot dogs, pizza, or other quick bites.

Practical information

All children must be at least 38 inches tall to enter the Venetian Pool, or parents must provide identification to show that their child is at least 3 years old. This attraction is open all year round, every day of the week from Memorial Day to Labour Day, and every day but Monday from September to May. UV rays are high in Miami all year round, especially from around April to September, so be sure to apply sun cream regularly when you're exposed to the sun.
