Venice Beach in Los Angeles
One of the world's most iconic seaside resorts, a trip to Venice Beach is an absolute must while you're in Los Angeles. Sandwiched between Santa Monica and LA's airport, you could easily spend the whole day there exploring without even sitting down on the beach.
Arriving at Venice Beach, head straight for the famous boardwalk, which stretches right along the waterfront. As you wander down the Venice Ocean Front Walk, to give it its proper name, you'll see the wide beach that leads down to the sparkling waters of the North Pacific Ocean. Stop to see the colourful collection of street performers and artists do their thing as you make your way to Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
If you love shopping, this is the place for you. With an eclectic range of vibrant boutiques, galleries and salons, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants, this street is renowned for being cool.
There's lots of ways to be active at Venice Beach, whether you join the locals for a game of basketball, have a go in the skatepark, or work on your beach body at the world's most famous outdoor gym in Muscle Beach.
Venice Beach is also a great surfing spot, with an artificial breakwater giving you the chance to catch some great waves.
After you've had a surf, shop or wander it's time to relax on the soft sands and soak up some Californian sunshine. If you can, stay into the evening to watch a memorable sunset, before having an evening out at the local bars and restaurants. After spending the day at Venice Beach, make your way to Dodger Stadium and experience an exciting baseball game.
