Patara Beach in Antalya
If you feel like a change from Olu Deniz Beach, head further south around the coast and spend a day relaxing in the golden sunshine at Patara Beach. The journey will take just over an hour by car, but this spectacular stretch of sand is well worth the effort.
If you love to get away from the crowds, this is the place for you. As you walk onto the beach, you'll see the beach disappear into the distance. At 18 kilometres long, Patara is Turkey's longest beach, so you're sure to find a private spot all to yourself if that's what you want.
Lay down your towel on the soft sand and gaze around at the spectacular wild scenery, with mountains rising up behind you and the sparkling Mediterranean in front. When it's time to go for a dip, the warm water's waiting for you, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. It stays shallow quite a long way out, ideal if you have little ones.
Keep your eye out for loggerhead turtles at the beach, as these amazing creatures build their nests up the beach. Because of the turtles, the beach is protected from development, which keeps things feeling naturally peaceful.
The only building at the beach is at the eastern end, where there's are also some sun loungers and parasols for hire. Here you'll find a little cafe where you can grab a bite to eat when you get hungry, sip a cool drink or buy an ice cream.
After a relaxing day at Patara Beach, head to the ancient site of Letoon on your way back to Olu Deniz, which is just 25 minutes away. Or if you have time, spend some time exploring the Kidrak Natural Park before heading up Babadağ mountain for an epic sunset.
