In Marmaris, places to see often don't require a lot of travel. Perched on the hilltop is the famous Marmaris Castle and Museum. The castle dates back to 1522 and was once the rallying point for troops.
Nowadays, a small portion of it has been converted into a museum, where you'll find exhibits and artefacts such as tombstones, oil lamps and other items belonging to the previous tenants over the centuries.
If you don't mind taking a bus a little further out from Marmaris, places to visit include Rhodes Town. There's plenty to see and do here including the Street of the Knights and the magnificent Crusader Castle. The town is packed with historical monuments, so make sure you don't forget your camera!
