Temple Of Apollo in Bodrum

Travel just outside of Altinkum to Didim for a unique chance to explore a part of the ancient world. Get up close with the archaeological site; walk over the ancient stone, through winding passageways and under handcrafted arches.

It costs a small fee to enter, but you can take as much time as you need to explore the wonders of the famous temple. Admire the handcrafted decorations and stone carvings and the sheer scale of the columns will undoubtedly leave you in awe. The huge, white marble temple was built with 120 giant columns, tunnels and a sacred spring, which the ruins still remain on the site today.

Legend has it that a priest would drink from the spring before giving an oracular announcement and because of this, some believe that the water contained hallucinogenic qualities that would induce a hypnotic state to the drinker. The temple was said to be similar to the temple at Ephesus and holds equal importance to the time period.
