Karaalioglu Park in Antalya

To escape the hustle and bustle of the city, go for a walk through the picturesque gardens at Karaalioglu Park. Found near the Old Town, you can easily get to the park by walking from the centre of Antalya or by taking the tram.

When you get to Karaalioglu Park, enjoy a break from the hot sun under the shade of the trees. Admission's free, so walk straight in to explore the colourful grounds and take in the beautiful views across the Gulf of Antalya. With Mount Tahtali in sight, make sure you take your camera and snap plenty of photos. For the best views, go to the glass platform overlooking the marina.

On your walk through the park, look out for monuments including the 14 metre tall Hidirlik Tower, believed to be a former Roman lighthouse.

If you're exploring with children, take them to the play area and let them run along the pathways before enjoying a delicious Turkish ice cream. When daylight starts to fade, make sure you stay in the park for the amazing sunset. In the cool evening, you'll see locals taking a relaxing walk and catching up with friends.

After your visit to the park, go and see some of the attractions close by, including Hadrian's Gate, Kaleici Harbour and the Ataturk House and Museum. There are also a number of markets near to Karaalioglu Park, perfect for souvenir and gift shopping.
