Family-friendly parks
The majority of hotels will offer up some great family entertainment, including Kids Clubs for younger children. For families, there's all the fun of Water World Parc, one of the best waterparks on the Costa Brava.
There's also the wonderfully quirky Gnomo Park, which is ideal for families with younger children under the age of 12.
If your little monkeys love a good climb then head to Arbreaventura, an adventure park that has zip lines, wooden suspension bridges, balance logs and a host of things to clamber over, whizz down and climb up. It's a great spot if the kids need to burn off some energy.
If you need a blast of adrenalin (quite literally) then head to the Space Blaster, which fires you 65m into the air. You'll pull up to 4Gs (that's fighter pilot standard) and experience genuine weightlessness on the freefall back down.
The Beach
You cannot escape the one big attraction on a holiday to Lloret de Mar: the beach. Lloret main beach is right in the middle of town, and has plenty of family-friendly facilities. It's also the perfect spot for a quick paddle before some serious sandcastle building action, making it ideal for the kids. While the main Lloret beach does tend to get a little crowded in the summer, there are plenty of smaller coves and quieter spots to discover all along the coast.
Try Sta Christina Beach, Canyelles Beach, and Sta Boadella Beach (although bear in mind half of this beach is put aside for naturists, so you may want to avoid it if you have the little ones with you). If you want a truly private spot then the best thing to do is to hire a car and head along the coast to the north.
Natural Attractions
Just an hour away from Lloret is Cap de Creus, one of the biggest Natural Parks in Catalonia. This park covers nearly 11,000 square hectares on land, as well as a large protected area off the coast, creating a haven for diving and snorkelling. Back on dry land, follow the hiking trails that cross the park up to the area around Cap Gros-Cap de Creus to the north, and the Serra de Rodes to the west. Off the coast there are tiny islands and islets to explore.
