Canary Islands nightlife

The Canary Islands are perhaps best known for their sunny beaches and family-friendly resorts. But when the sun goes down and the stars come out, it's time for the nightlife in the Canary Islands to take centre stage. Whether you fancy a few drinks with friends or you want to stay out until the sun comes up, Canary Island nightlife offers something for everyone.

Party all night in Gran Canaria

The party doesn't really get started until midnight in Gran Canaria, and it carries on until the sun comes up. You'll find that most bars are open until around 2am, while the clubs don't close until 6am. You'll find lots of swanky nightclubs in Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria's biggest holiday resort. Vibrant bars like Hippodrome and Havana are the perfect place to grab a quiet drink dancing the night away at Cream, Pacha or Chinawhite. Prefer trendy bars? Las Palmas, the island capital, will be right up your street. Most locals kick off the evening with a few tipples in Plaza de Espa ña in the Mesa y Lopéz district. You'll find free live music over in the popular Cuasquas venue, and if you're into jazz, make a beeline for the Nowanda Café Club.

Let your hair down in Lanzarote

Lanzarote isn't as wild as some of the other islands. But there's still plenty of fun to be had. Playa Blanca has a handful of bars and restaurants in Centro Comercial Papagayo and the Centro Comercial Punto Limones. But if you're looking for lively nights out, Puerto Del Carmen is the place to be. You'll find a long stretch of bars, restaurants and clubs along the promenade in Puerto Del Carmen, known as called Avenida de las Playas (Avenue of the beaches); when the sun goes down, this part of town really comes alive. If you're after a more low-key scene, no problem; Puerto Del Carmen boasts a wealth of cool cocktail bars like La Delicatezza.

Tenerife

Over in Tenerife, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to Canary Islands nightlife. Down on the south coast, you'll find Playa de las Américas, one of Tenerife's most famous resorts. The atmosphere is bustling here, and you'll find lots of late-night clubs down on the popular Veronicas strip, as well as the Hard Rock Café and cool beach clubs. Before you make your way there, you can start your night out with drinks at Starco Centre and the Patch; you'll find plenty of bars and live music venues here too.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is home to the more laid-back Canary Islands nightlife, with lots of relaxed bars and restaurants where you can while away an evening. But if you want to party, head over to Corralejo. You'll find lively hangouts down on Avenida del Generalisimo Franco, including a mix of live music venues, dance bars and British pubs. Where's your favourite place to party in the Canary Islands?
