Playa Bollullo Spain

For a relaxing day at the beach, surrounded by huge rocky cliffs on soft black volcanic sand, pay a visit to Playa Bollullo. Often named the best beach in Tenerife, it's a beautiful place to spend the day sunbathing, swimming and playing with the kids. To get to Playa El Bollullo, you'll need to travel four kilometres east of Puerto de la Cruz. Go by car, or walk along the coastal path which takes around 35 minutes.

Arriving at the beach through banana plantations, you'll be greeted by a secluded, unspoiled cove in the beautiful La Orotava Valley. After reaching this hidden gem, relax on the sand, read a book, or paddle in the sea. The waves can get quite big and the currents can be strong, so make sure you keep a very close eye on your children if they're in the water.

If you have small kids, don't let them go in the sea without a hand to hold. When you get hungry, go to the beachside café for a Spanish bocadillo or some fresh tapas. For a bigger meal, take a walk up to the cliffside restaurant for traditional food and breathtaking views. After enjoying a few hours on the beach, walk to the neighbouring beaches along the coast, Los Patos and El Pozo.
