Wave pools and water slides
When it comes to Corralejo things to do, Acua Water Park is a family-friendly option that's a real hit with younger travellers. Kids will love the wave pools and whizzing down one of the many water slides. Set in 160,000 square metres of landscaped parkland, there's still plenty to do when feet hit dry land too. 10-pin bowling, crazy golf and fairground rides will keep the whole family entertained for hours.
Beautiful beaches
No visit to Corralejo is complete without a visit to one of its broad sandy beaches. Find plenty of spots to lay down your towel and relax, or if you're feeling more adventurous there are water sports on offer for an adrenaline rush. At Flag Beach, you can rent or take lessons in surfing, windsurfing and sailing. You can do as much or as little as you want. Just outside of Corralejo, you'll also find several beaches that merge into one pristine stretch. Called Grandes Playas (big beaches) and part of the National Park, it has the impressive sand dunes as its backdrop. Big enough not to feel overcrowded, these windswept beaches have plenty of parasols, sun loungers and big waves.
Sea of sand
Once you've seen its beaches, you'll want to explore the rest of the National Park. With dunes stretching 10km along the east coast from Corralejo, Parque Natural de Corralejo will make you feel like you've just stepped into the Sahara. As well as the surreal sea of sand, it also has a solidified lava stream and the stunning mountains of Los Apartaderos and Roja. Its natural beauty is protected by the government, as are the desert rabbits, lizards and birds that call it their home. If discovering the local flora and fauna is top of your list of things to do in Corralejo, this is the perfect spot to start!
Spanish-style malls
Pick up some mementos of your Corralejo holiday before you leave and head to the main street in Corralejo for a mixture of high street and souvenir shops. You'll find more boutiques lining its side streets and close to the marina. Prefer shopping in larger malls? There are two nearby Corralejo, El Campanario shopping centre and Las Palmeras shopping centre. The Spanish-style El Campanario is close to Acua water park and has branded stores, coffee shops and more. The newer La Palmeras centre has two levels with designer shops and cafés.
Shark spotting
Explore more than just Corralejo and take a day trip to Lanzarote or Isla de Lobos while you're here. Simply hop on a ferry and you'll be in Lanzarote between 25-40 minutes. Once in Lanzarote, sightseeing includes the beautiful volcanic National Park and the salt flats at Las Salinas del Janubio.
Only 2km from Fuerteventura is the little island of Isla de Lobos, which is easy to get to by ferry. Once there, you can follow the marked paths and hike around the island in under an hour before trying to spot one of the hammerhead sharks in the surrounding waters.
