Situated amongst the wild, green scenery of Menorca’s southwest is the holiday hotspot Cala’ n Bosch, a relaxed beach resort. Its horseshoe bay is a beautiful place to spend leisurely, sunny holidays, and at one end of the beach are the much-loved marina, the resort’s dining, and nightlife hub. On your doorstep are some of Menorca’s top family attractions, including its popular waterpark, Aquarock.

Things to do
Take a day trip to the historic town of Ciutadella, the former capital of Menorca. See its beautiful medieval cathedral, wander through the charming old quarter, and visit the covered market at the Placa Libertat. In the evening, have a walk around the picturesque port before enjoying delicious paella or other seafood dishes at one of the waterfront restaurants here.
Beautiful beaches
The main attraction of Cala’n Bosch is the beautiful beaches, with metres of golden sands and turquoise blue seas. They’re perfect for those who simply love relaxing and soaking up the sun; you could spend your whole holiday on them if you really wanted to. Cala’n Bosch’s main beach is really family-friendly, offering everything you could need for a day at the beach. It’s not too big either, so the atmosphere is more calm and relaxing. If you’ve always wanted to take up kayaking, wind surfing or sailing, you can try your hand at some of the water sports on offer at Son Xoriguer beach. To help you get around from beach to beach, be sure to ride the land train; it’s an easy way to get around plus loads of fun for children.
The resort hub
You’ll spend a lot of time around the marina when you holiday in Cala’n Bosch, as everything happens there. It’s where you’ll find lovely restaurants and quiet bars for you to sit and enjoy an afternoon drink, overlooking the boats and watching the world go by. You’ll feel a real buzz around the marina in the evenings though. Take a moon-lit stroll around the waterfront and watch the street artists that regularly perform, or discover unique gifts at the street market; perfect for taking home as gifts. The quiet bars from the day time become vibrant at night time and play host to evening entertainment, so if you love live music and karaoke, this is the place for you.

Cala’n Bosch enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate with long, dry summers, and an average of about 11 hours of sunshine a day in the sunniest month, July. Winters are very mild and a bit damp, although still much sunnier than northern Europe. Fortunately, it's warm enough to stay outdoors until well after dark from around mid-June to the first part of September, when sea temperatures normally hover in the low to mid-20s. This is the perfect time to visit if you're looking for almost guaranteed warmth and sun.

Language: Menorca's official languages are Spanish and a Catalan dialect known as Menorquí. English is spoken in most hotels, and many people working in restaurants, bars and shops will have a basic understanding of English. There's certainly no harm in bringing a phrasebook or app so you can brush up on your Spanish while on holiday.

Balearics Sustainable Tourism Tax: You’ll need to pay a Sustainable Tourism Tax which has been introduced by the Balearic Government to help with environmental and tourism improvements. The charge is between €1-4 per person per night, plus 10% VAT, subject to change, and varies based on the official star rating of your accommodation. By bus: the bus service runs around every 30 minutes, operating a circular route in Cala n Bosch that will take you down to the marina and beach. The bus also heads out to neighbouring towns like Ciutadella.
By taxi: taxis are readily available in the resort, and will generally have a fixed price. You can find taxi ranks in the town centre and at the airport. Always agree the fare before you set off.
By mini train: There’s a mini train service for the easiest transport to the beach, particularly if you have small kids.
By car: if you're looking for a little more independence and the freedom to travel at your own leisure, then consider hiring a car for your Cala’n Bosch holiday.
Summer festival: the biggest festival on Menorca’s calendar is the Festival of San Joan. It takes place in July in Ciutadella, around 15 minutes’ drive outside Cala’n Bosch. The festival is three days of parties and parades, with jousting in the streets. The event is big, loud, and colourful, and you will be expected to join in!
For jazz fans: in May, Ciutadella and Mahon host the Annual Jazz Festival, the biggest of its kind in Menorca. The festival features a variety of contemporary jazz musicians playing in sunny outdoor venues for several weeks, which will be another highlight of your holiday.
