Sea Caves in Majorca
Explore mysterious hidden worlds with a sea cave trip in Mallorca. The island has a number of fascinating cave networks, some of which are close by if you're staying in Cala Bona. Take a boat from Cala Bona down the coast to Cala Varques, where you'll find the famous Pirate Cave. Swim around into the cave and see the incredible colours and strange rock formations.
You can get out of the water and explore more of the cave on foot, just make sure you're careful and listen to your guide. Ten minutes south of Cala Bona you can enjoy a trip to the Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo. Translating as the 'Dragon Caves', this mysterious underground network even has a lake that's over 100 metres long, formed from sea water. Combine a visit to these caves with an afternoon exploring this quaint little fishing village, which has a relaxed atmosphere.
Less than 20 minutes to the north of Cala Bona you'll also find the Cuevas de Arta. Right by the sea surrounded by tall mountains and dramatic cliffs, you'll climb up some steps to the incredible cave entrance. See the fascinating stalactites and stalagmites with their extraordinary shapes as you move through the caves and descend towards the impressive Hall of Columns and Hell chamber.
After an exciting day exploring Majorca's sea caves, recover over a few drinks at Sanddancers Bar. There you can plan your next day's activities, whether you want to go on a scuba diving trip or explore more of the island's east coast.
