Es Vedra Rock in Ibiza
The mysterious Rock of Es Vedra is an uninhabited island located just off the west coast of Ibiza. The mammoth, 400-metre-high limestone rock has been the focal point of many myths and legends over the years, making it so popular today with both holidaymakers and locals alike.
Some of the most popular myths include it being the birthplace of Phoenician goddess, Tanit; it being the rock used to build the Egyptian pyramids; and even it being the tip of the sunken civilisation of Atlantis. It's said to be the third most magnetic spot in the whole of the world, after the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle, even homing pigeons have been known to lose their bearings when flying close by!
There are a number of places where you can view the rock from Ibiza, but for the best spot, head to the small beach resort of Cala d'Hort. There you can get some great photo opportunities from the cliff top overlooking the beach.
