Portimão - currency

The currency used in Portimão is the Euro (EUR).

Notes are €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500, while coins are 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, €1 and €2. While credit cards are widely accepted across the city, you may find that some shops and cafés will only accept cash. It’s also useful to have cash with you when tipping or paying for taxi journeys, for example. 

There are ATMs across the city where you can withdraw cash. If doing so, please bear in mind that there may be withdrawal limits and charges for using a credit card abroad.
