Lagos Nightlife: Bars & Clubs
Surrounded by 16th century walls with churches, cobbled lanes, and pretty piazzas, you might be fooled into thinking that Lagos nightlife is quiet and reserved. Built on the bank of the Rio Bensafrim, the town's historic significance and proximity to the region's best beaches is matched only by its lively, pumping nightlife. Here's a round-up of the best nightlife in Lagos.
Bars
When it comes to Lagos bars, the variety is huge. There's everything from Irish pubs and jazz clubs to beachside hangouts.
One of the coolest Lagos bars is Stevie Ray's Blues Jazz Bar. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, this candlelit joint will have you set for the entire evening (and morning) with its 9pm to 6am opening hours. Set across two levels and playing live jazz and blues sets, it's free to get in, but you'll need to spend a minimum of 5 at the well-stocked bar.
Another venue topping the list of bars in Lagos is Bon Vivant. Open for afternoon drinks and still buzzing all the way through to its 4am close, this bar is set over several levels and mixes cocktails with plenty of R&B music. Relax outside and enjoy the Algarve's warm nights at the Garden beer garden, or start off your night with some pool and drinks specials at the Red Eye Bar.
Head to the seafront for Linda's Bar to drink cocktails and dance by the sand, enjoying your very own Lagos Portugal beach party.
The late-opening Inside Out bar is guaranteed to get any Lagos party in Portugal going with its lively atmosphere, with great DJs and massive fishbowl cocktails.
Clubs
After warming up in the town's many bars, make your way to Lagos nightclubs. Most play music all night until 6am, and you'll also find open-air clubs where you can dance under the stars without overheating in a crowded space.
One of the most well-known of Lagos' clubs is the popular Grand Café. Join hipster clientele at one of the club's three bars, where you can dance and drink against a kitsch décor of gold leaf, red velvet, and cherubs.
Family-friendly nightlife
If you're looking for nightlife in Lagos that'll keep all the family entertained, then head to one of the nearby hotels or restaurant-bars. There's plenty of evening entertainment for families and kids at some of the hotels, and you'll be welcome whether you're staying there or not. Keep an eye out for the weekly entertainment schedule, with everything from traditional dance performances and karaoke to kid's discos and live music on offer. Many of the restaurant-bars around Lagos are family friendly and provide music and entertainment as you tuck into a delicious meal.
