Oman - currency

The Omani rial (OMR) is the currency in Oman.

Omani rial are available in notes: 1, 5, 10 and 50

Each Omani rial is made up of 1,000 baisa, which come in coins (5, 10, 25 and 50) and notes (100 and 200).

When you order Omani rial for your trip, make sure you get plenty as you’ll be paying with cash most of the time. Cards aren’t used much in Oman.

Tipping is appreciated in some circumstances but it’s not a big part of Omani culture. For example, aim to tip 10% in tourist restaurants and 5 OMR for tour guides, but there’s no need to tip taxi drivers.
