Ferry To Valletta Malta
Take a ferry to Valletta and visit the vibrant capital of Malta. A trip to this historic city is a great way to spend a day away from the beach on your holiday to Sliema.
Stroll down to the Sliema ferry terminal, which is just along from the bus terminus on the seafront. The boat's nice and cheap, as it's only a few Euros for an adult return ticket, with children and concessions going for less. The journey's also quick, taking just ten minutes to reach Valletta.
After passing Manoel Island, you'll arrive in Valletta's harbour next to the city's water polo pool. As a World Heritage Site and the European Capital of Culture for 2018, there's plenty to see across Valletta. The peninsula that the city sits on is very small, so it's perfect for exploring on foot.
Wander through the cobbled streets among 16th century buildings, climbing up picturesque steps and gazing up at landmarks like the Palace of the Grand Masters. Explore stunning churches like the baroque Saint John's Co-Cathedral, or admire the fascinating exhibits at museums such as the National Museum of Archaeology. Stroll along the picturesque waterfront before you catch the ferry back to Sliema.
The last departure is at 12.45am over summer, so you can even have a meal and some drinks overlooking the harbour before getting the boat back. If there's time left in your day after your trip to Valletta, spend the afternoon exploring Manoel Island, or treat the kids to a fun experience at the Mediterraneo Marine Park.
