Pull yourself away from the pool and head inland to Sorrento's main square, Piazza Tasso. The central area is named after poet, Torquato Tasso, who is said to be one of the greatest Italian writers of the Renaissance. Visit his statue and enjoy the surroundings that were built in the 18th century.
In the past the areas high position was used for defence purposes, now it's the ideal place to look at the picturesque coast. There's a lot to see here, including a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Visit the 17th century church of Santa Maria del Carmine to see its grand medieval design.
Just behind the square is the natural phenomenon, Vallone dei Mulino, dating back to a volcanic eruption 35,000 years ago.
