Chiesa di San Prisco e Agnello in Sant'Agnello
A historic church with a peaceful atmosphere, make sure you visit the Chiesa di San Prisco e Agnello on your holiday to Sant'Agnello. The Chiesa di San Prisco e Agnello is on one of the town's major roads, Corso Italia, so you can't really miss it.
The actual building dates back as far as the 14th century, but was consecrated as a church in 1827. When you arrive you'll see the lovely Baroque facade with its yellow tinge. After you've got some pictures on the steps at the front, make your way up to the entrance and pass under the iron Latin cross on your way inside. You may be surprised at how grand things are once you're inside, as you gaze up at marbled columns, tall arches and intricate domed ceilings. Notice the chandeliers and gold candlestick holders, as well as the marble altar and parapet.
Take a seat on one of the wooden pews for a moment of calm, as you admire the impressive artworks that decorate the walls and ceilings. See paintings of the Last Supper and an image of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus, as well as a statue of the body of Christ being carried on Good Friday.
After you've explored the Chiesa di San Prisco e Agnello, take a short stroll over to the Santuario di San Giuseppe and spend some time in another peaceful church. If you're heading down to Stabilimento Balneare La Marinella, then take a detour to the Golfo del Pecoriello for the stunning scenery.
