Explore Cassone
Cassone is just over two miles from Malcesine but it makes for a peaceful walk or bike ride, as the views of the lake are beautiful. The town itself is really picturesque with a small harbour, stone tower, fishing boats, colourfully painted houses, little bridges and narrow canals. It's almost a mini version of Venice.
The smallest river in the world runs in to the town. You could easily spend a couple of hours or more just sitting by the boardwalk with a coffee, watching the locals fish or taking photos for your album. Enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the traditional restaurants. Take advantage of the reasonably priced rustic, yet delicious, pizza and pasta dishes in the family-run pizzerias. Along the boardwalk, quaint little seafood restaurants serve fresh catch of the day.
Aside from excellent food, if you're interested in learning a bit about the area, including fishing methods from way back, there's a great museum with old black and white photos of the lake. It's free to enter.
