7 Things to do in Kalamaki

Located on Zante's southern shores, Kalamaki is a resort that's tailor-made for a tranquil holiday in the sun. With its 5km sandy beach, olive groves and family-friendly atmosphere, there's no shortage of things to do in Kalamaki for all ages. Start your holiday as you mean to go on; at the beach!

Kalamaki Beach is ideal for families as the sand shelves gently into the ocean and the waters are shallow. This is a dedicated turtle conservation area where endangered loggerhead turtles come to nest. So if you're lucky, you may even spot tiny baby turtles breaking out of their shells!

Because of the turtles, you won't find any water sports here, making it a great place to relax and unwind in the sunshine. It's just a ten-minute drive to the seaside village of Argassi, where you'll find plenty of water sports on offer at the beach. This is a great spot for families, with a tourist train for younger kids and mini golf.

For something a bit more challenging, why not hike the three miles to the Monastery of Panagia Skopiotissa for some breath-taking views over the area?

Agios Sostos is another great place to head for a day trip from Kalamaki. This is one of Zante's most beautiful towns and it's just a 15-minute drive away.

The golden sandy beach is backed by tavernas and restaurants, so why not enjoy a spot of swimming or hire a pedalo or canoe, before trying some authentic Greek food?

Kids will love the glass-bottom boat trip to Turtle Island, where you may spot nesting loggerhead turtles. No trip to Zante is complete without a visit to Smugglers Cove. This picture-perfect white sandy bay can only be reached by boat and is home to the wreck of an alleged smugglers ship that you can explore at your leisure. Active types will find plenty of things to do in Zante Kalamaki too.

Why not head off on a horse-riding tour with one of the local riding schools? You could even trek along the beach at sunset for some spectacular views.

For families, there's an 18-hole Crazy Golf course and Formula Zante Go Kart arena where you can race each other around the circuit in a 300cc kart to your heart's content. Smaller karts are available to accommodate children of all ages.

When it comes to things to do in Kalamaki, you're going to be spoiled for choice, so the only problem you'll have is deciding what to do first!
