The lively resort of Argassi, Greece is on the stunning island of Zante, one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Greek Islands. With a great range of bars and clubs, excellent watersports facilities, and good transport links to Zante Town, it's well suited to couples and families who want all the convenience but none of the crowds. With its natural beauty, historic sights and excellent cuisine, holidays to Argassi are great for relaxation.
The sand and shingle beach here is nearly a kilometre long, and if you wake up early enough you'll see a wonderful sunrise over the Ionian Sea. With plenty of sunloungers, you can easily take some time out and soak up the sun.
Another big advantage of Argassi holidays, other than the sun, sand, and sea, is that you'll be just a 10-minute ride from Zante Town via the tourist train. Here you can find a much wider range of restaurants and bars, and historic sights like the Venetian church of San Dionisio.

Summers in Zante are very long, hot, and dry, with daytime temperatures peaking at around 31°C in July and August, and hovering around 27°C to 28°C in June and September. In July and August, night-time temperatures often remain above 20°C, meaning you can look forward to spending time outdoors after dark without needing a jumper. Even in winter, daytime temperatures regularly hit the teens, and average daily sunshine hours in January are closer to what you'd expect in southern UK in August.

Language: the official language is Greek, although you'll find English is spoken in most hotels and at major tourist sights. Many staff will also speak at least a basic level of English in restaurants, bars and shops. However, if you'd like to brush up on your Greek, carry a phrase book or download a language-learning app. The locals will appreciate any effort you make to speak their language, even if it's just a few words.

Weather and climate: Argassi, Greece in general, and Zante in particular, enjoy one of the warmest and sunniest climates of any location in Europe. The island enjoys around 12 hours of sunshine per day on average in June, July and August, and sea temperatures are warm enough for swimming in from around June to October. Rain is rare in July and August, although winters are somewhat wetter but still much milder and sunnier than what you'd be used to back home.

By bus: Zante has a well-developed public transport network, with buses operating all over the island. From Argassi you can take a direct bus to Zakynthos Town, which has a central bus station with services to other destinations such as Porto Roma, Laganas, and Alykes.
By taxi: Taxis can be a convenient way to get around during your Argassi holiday, especially if you're travelling with heavy luggage to or from the airport. Always remember to agree the fare before you set off.
By train: Take the family on the tourist train to Zante.
By car: With a hire car you can explore Zante independently and at your own pace. However, because of the island's relatively small size, this is by no means essential, and may be quite a bit more expensive than public transport.
The Zante Shutdown Festival: one of the biggest events of the year, it’s also one of the biggest urban clubbing events in Europe and takes place in late May.
The island also celebrates a Carnival for 15 days from late February to early March, which includes a huge procession and plenty of fireworks.
