Unique beach
If you’re going to Santorini to relax, then Kamari’s beach is the perfect place to laze around. With glorious summer weather that peaks at around 30ºC, the beach is ideal if you love being in the hot sun. Settle down for the day under a thatched sun shade, and gaze around at the black sands and plunging Messavouno mountain.
Top attractions
The mountain does more than just frame the beach though, as it’s also home to one of the most historic attractions anywhere in Greece. With almost 3,000 years’ worth of heritage, the site of Ancient Thera should be at the top of your sightseeing list when you’re in Kamari. There are other great ways to spend your time, whether you want to see some art, watch a film at the open-air cinema, or party until the early hours.
Seaside thrills
With its seaside setting, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea on your holiday to Kamari. Go swimming or snorkelling, try watersports at the beach, or set sail on a cruise to the other Cyclades islands. However you plan on spending your time, you’re sure to have a fantastic time in this picture-perfect part of Santorini.

Flights to Kamari land at Santorini National Airport, which is about a ten-minute drive from the resort.
Beach lovers: Kamari’s beach is one of the most beautiful on the island and has been awarded coveted Blue Flag status for its cleanliness and quality of water.
Walkers: Follow the path from the town up into the mountains and explore Zoodochos Pigi, a stunning, clifftop church. If you’ve forgotten to bring anything to drink, you can gulp down some fresh spring-water from a nearby cave.
History Buffs: Retrace Kamari’s fascinating history at the ancient ruins of Thera.
Language: The language spoken in Kamari is Greek. While the locals have a good understanding of English, it might be worth packing a phrasebook or downloading a language app so you can try a few Greek phrases for yourself.
Currency: You’ll need to change-up your Sterling for Euros, before zipping off on your Kamari holidays.

By car: If you’re planning to explore outside the town, hiring a car is the most convenient way to travel. There are a number of local agencies that can offer you competitive rates.
By bus: Local buses operate seven days a week to neighbouring towns. Services stop running at midnight, so make sure you know how you're getting home if you’re planning to stay out late.
By taxi: Local taxis aren’t cheap, but they are a great way to get about if you’d prefer not to drive. Discuss the fare with your driver before you set off.
All that jazz: Kamari Beach is home to the Santorini Jazz Festival, which is held each July. You’ll find both Greek and international artists perform at the open-air cinema, located on the black sands.
Megaron Gyzi Festival: A free event, the Megaron Gyzi Festival offers three weeks of cultural events, including music concerts, lectures and art exhibitions, every August.
Ifestia Festival: If you’re taking your holiday to Kamari in August, be sure to pay a visit to Fira and catch the Ifestia Festival. Held to commemorate the volcanic eruption that made Santorini what it is, you can expect beach parties, live music, midnight swimming, and the most incredible firework displays.
Temperature: 12°C - 26°C
If you’re looking for sunshine, the best months are between July and August. You can expect around 12 to 13 hours a day, with temperatures that hover in the high twenties and peak in the low thirties °C. For cooler conditions, spring and autumn are better for sightseeing. Between April and June, the mercury climbs out of the high teens and settles into the low twenties. From September, things start to cool off, dropping into the twenties and eventually dipping down to 15-18°C in November. While winters can be wet, they’re also very mild, with an average temperature of 12°C throughout the season.
