Getting around Kamari

By car: If you’re planning to explore outside the town, hiring a car is the most convenient way to travel. There are a number of local agencies that can offer you competitive rates. 

By bus: Local buses operate seven days a week to neighbouring towns. Services stop running at midnight, so make sure you know how you're getting home if you’re planning to stay out late. 

By taxi: Local taxis aren’t cheap, but they are a great way to get about if you’d prefer not to drive. Discuss the fare with your driver before you set off.

Events in Kamari

All that jazz: Kamari Beach is home to the Santorini Jazz Festival, which is held each July. You’ll find both Greek and international artists perform at the open-air cinema, located on the black sands.

Megaron Gyzi Festival: A free event, the Megaron Gyzi Festival offers three weeks of cultural events, including music concerts, lectures and art exhibitions, every August. 

Ifestia Festival: If you’re taking your holiday to Kamari in August, be sure to pay a visit to Fira and catch the Ifestia Festival. Held to commemorate the volcanic eruption that made Santorini what it is, you can expect beach parties, live music, midnight swimming, and the most incredible firework displays.

Temperature: 12°C - 26°C

If you’re looking for sunshine, the best months are between July and August. You can expect around 12 to 13 hours a day, with temperatures that hover in the high twenties and peak in the low thirties °C. For cooler conditions, spring and autumn are better for sightseeing. Between April and June, the mercury climbs out of the high teens and settles into the low twenties. From September, things start to cool off, dropping into the twenties and eventually dipping down to 15-18°C in November. While winters can be wet, they’re also very mild, with an average temperature of 12°C throughout the season.
