Asklepion Ruins Kos
You don't have to be a history buff to appreciate the incredible ruins of Asklepion. It's one of the biggest attractions on the island of Kos and well worth a few hours of your time whilst on holiday.
Once a huge institution where healers would cure their patients and teach the art of healing, the site is now a popular tourist hotspot showcasing some of Kos' fascinating history. Located on a hill just outside of Kos Town, visitors can pay a small entrance fee and explore the vast ancient ruins at their own leisure.
The site is thought to date back to around 400 BC and has three levels featuring what remains of a medical school, a medical centre, thermal baths and a number of temples, including the columns of the Temple of Apollo. From the terrace at the top of the site, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Kos Town below.
Don't forget your sun cream and water for your visit though, as you are very much exposed to the hot Greek sun whilst you're there.
