Skala Nightlife Greece: Bars & Clubs
While Skala isn't known for its nightlife, there's a selection of restaurants, tavernas and nightclubs for those who want to kick their heels up. During the height of the summer, you'll find the occasional beach party in full swing, but none of this is on the scale of Skala's noisier neighbours, such as Mykonos.
Skala nightlife is for those who want to enjoy a good night out, but on a less hectic level than the party-centric resorts nearby. If you prefer your entertainment laid-back and chilled-out, Skala is the perfect resort.
If you're looking for cool cocktails, great music and a warm welcome, head over to the Captain's Bar, which you'll find along the main road between the park and Skala Beach. The Captain's Bar was Skala's first watering hole, and opened in 1987.
Since then it's gone from strength to strength. By day, it's a family-friendly venue, with mocktails for younger visitors. By night, it throws its doors open to visitors and locals, alike, with weekly quiz nights and a chance to win a traditional Greek vase! The Captain's Bar is softly lit and plays a superb selection of floor-filling tunes, ranging from ”70s disco, to ”80s funk and soul. It's worth booking a table in advance as the Captain's Bar is relatively small and starts to fill up at around seven, with holidaymakers stopping off for a drink, before grabbing a meal.
For extra entertainment on your evening out, pay a visit to the Metaxa Bar. Located on Skala Beach, it offers food and drink throughout the day, and a place to unwind and enjoy a leisurely meal or a cheeky cocktail by night. It's the ideal spot to watch on of Kefalonia's spectacular sunsets, and also hosts nightly shows. Expect to hear live music on most nights, and on Fridays and Saturdays, you can marvel at the blazing brilliance of the bar's own Fire show.
With its chilled-out atmosphere, Skala is for those who want a relatively quiet, easy going, and sophisticated night out. There are good times on tap for those who want them but, unlike some of the livelier resorts, Skala's nightclub scene is comparatively low key and laid back.
