Spend the day at one of the Kalamata beaches

Kalamata city rubs shoulders with little beach resorts that sit along the glistening Ionian coast. There are a handful of villages and towns with beautiful beaches which altogether stretch out to an impressive four kilometres of coastline.

Whether you're looking for a quiet beach where you can relax with a good book or a beach perfect for the little ones to have fun, Kalamata has a lot to offer.

Stoupa village occupies an incredibly beautiful part of the Peloponnese coast, with calm seas perfect for snorkelling and golden sands waiting for you to soak up the sun. The main beach is a gently-shelving, sandy beach lined with snack bars and tavernas.

Around the bay is the popular Kalogria Beach, a small beach with shallow sea water, which is perfect for children to splash about in and at the other end of the village is the quiet Halikoura Beach.

Aghios Nikolaos has one main shingle beach that's around two kilometres away from the main harbour area in Kalamata. If you're keen to try your hand at a challenging water sport then head to Finikounda. It's one of the best windsurfing spots in the whole of Greece, so it's understandable why so many enthusiasts flock to its two beaches during the summer.
