Explore Kerkyra and the old fortress
Classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Corfu's old town is a maze of quirky narrow streets just waiting to be explored. The proper name for the old town is Kerkyra and you will find the area located in the heart of Corfu Town itself.
Take a wander through the cobbled streets and discover quaint little eateries, independent shops and different street artists or musicians around every corner. It's the ideal place to get all your souvenir shopping done before enjoying some traditional Greek cuisine in the evening.
However, the old town has a distinct Venetian feel due to its past ruling, so you may find some great Italian food there too. You can't visit Kerkyra without noticing the two striking fortresses that sandwich the town together. There's the new fortress and the old fortress, but it is the latter that definitely shouldn't be missed. Here you can learn about the building's history and see ancient Byzantine artefacts in the on-site museum. Whilst there, be sure to climb the land tower and take in the incredible views from the top.
