Island-hop to Badija

Accessed by taxi-boat that putt-putts over from Korčula Old Town, the island of Badija is one of the great experiences you can enjoy in this part of Dalmatia.

For centuries, the only residents here were Bosnian monks, turfed out in 1949. Their monastery remains – and was recently claimed back by the Franciscan Order – but the simplistic pleasures now pursued here are very different.

Badija’s long coastline is dotted with secluded beaches and coves – in fact, there is little else but secluded beaches and coves – some of which are patronised by naturists and tame deer venturing down to the waterfront.
