Bol Beach Croatia
The lovely town of Bol sits on the southern shores of Brac Island. Just a mile along the coast is its stunning beach, Zlatni Rat, which gives you the perfect place to spend long and lazy days relaxing in the golden Mediterranean sunshine. Rated as one of the best beaches across the whole of Europe, the Zlatni Rat is a spit of land that reaches out into the Hvar Channel. With its white pebbles and crystal clear waters, it's an absolute must-visit if you're going to Brac Island or looking to go on a boat trip from the mainland. There are plenty of sun loungers that you can take your pick from, which you can use to relax under the shade of a parasol. Settle down with a good book and gaze out across the Adriatic Sea towards Hvar Island in the distance. When it's time to go for a dip in the water, there's a gentle current which makes it crystal clear and perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The beach has a great reputation for windsurfing, thanks to a reliable breeze that usually picks up in the afternoon. Try your hand at skimming across the waves, or if you're an accomplished windsurfer, this is a place you simply have to tick off your list of places to surf. There are other water sports that you can have a go at if you're feeling adventurous, with the Nautic Center Bol offering things like parasailing. Up in the skies you can look down across the pine grove that borders the beach, and contains an ancient Roman villa and play areas that are great for children. If you can, stick around for a spectacular sunset at the beach, then head back to Bol and sit down for a dinner with local specialities like the island's wine, cheese, olive oil and the vitalac lamb dish.
