Zlatni Rat on Brac Island
Sit back and enjoy some warm Croatian sunshine on the Zlatni Rat beach. Only around a mile to the west of the harbour town of Bol on Brac Island's south coast, it's a must-visit if you want to relax and recharge your batteries in spectacular surroundings.
The Zlatni Rat is a spit of land that juts out into the Adriatic Sea, with beaches either side of a Mediterranean pine grove. The pine grove is home to the remains of an ancient Roman villa, which even had a swimming pool. When you're ready to wander down to the beach, lay down your towel on the white pebbles or pay for a sun lounger and gaze across the water to the island of Hvar.
When it's time to cool off, go for a dip in the crystal clear sea, or sit at the water's edge and let the waves gently lap against your feet. If you need some action, then have a go at windsurfing. In the afternoons, you'll feel the mild wind, making this a popular spot among windsurfers.
Perhaps you'd like to gain a new perspective with some parasailing, or hire your own boat to take things at your own pace. There are lifeguards through the summer, so you can have peace of mind if you're taking the kids to the beach for the day.
There are also a number of playgrounds by the beach and in the pine grove, which are great for keeping the little ones entertained. After you've spent the morning relaxing in the sun, head over to Bol and visit the Stina Winery, or go on an exciting excursion with the Nautic Center. Or if you can, stay at the beach all day until sunset, and watch the sun disappear into the Adriatic behind the mountains in the distance.
