Eiffel Tower Viewing Platform & Café
Climb the most famous landmark in Paris and take in the views from the Eiffel Tower’s newly-renovated viewing platform and cafe. Make your way to the first of three observation decks, taking the stairs for the most rewarding experience, or the lift to save your energy, before coming out onto the glass-bottomed platform 52 metres above the ground.
Walking along the transparent floor can be a dizzying experience, but you’ll soon get used to it as you go right the way around the deck for 360 degree views of the city. The old fencing has also been replaced with tilting glass walls, giving amazing views towards the Sacre-Coeur, the River Seine and Montmartre hill.
For a closer look at the sights, use the telescopes, and don’t forget the selfie stick for some fun photo opportunities.
After taking plenty of pictures, go into the café at the centre of the platform. Relax with a coffee and croissant before climbing up to the higher decks or going back down to solid ground. There’s also a museum, where you can find out more about famous visitors and see the working lift mechanism up close.
If you’re feeling brave, take the stairs up to the next viewing platform, at 115 metres above ground. If you walk all the way up, give yourself a pat on the back, as you will have conquered an impressive 1,700 steps. The highest observation level, at 275 metres, can only be reached by the lift. On a clear day, you can see more than 35 miles in every direction.
