Reichstag in Berlin

Pay a visit to the historic Reichstag with a trip to the roof terrace and dome of Germany’s parliament building. With its turbulent history, which includes surviving fires and two world wars, the Reichstag is a must-see during your time in Berlin.

To get up to the Reichstag dome, you’ll need to pre-book a free ticket online or at the Visitors Centre just outside near the Berlin Pavilion. You’re not guaranteed a ticket if you turn up on the day, so it’s best to plan in advance by booking on the Reichstag website. You’ll also need ID for booking, and to show on entry to the Reichstag.

Once you have your ticket, you’ll be given a time slot for your visit to the dome. To make the most of your visit, hire an audio guide from the roof terrace to discover facts about the building, the German parliament and the sights you’ll see from the dome. With 360 degree views, you’ll see right across the city as you walk up and down the staircases running alongside the huge glass dome.

If you have youngsters with you, there are special guides available especially for children.

For an extra-special experience, go to the rooftop restaurant and have a meal overlooking the city. It’s lovely and romantic at night, but you’ll need to book ahead. The Reichstag’s open to visitors from 8am to midnight.

After your trip into the Reichstag, spend some time looking around the huge building before going to Tiergarten to relax in the park. The Brandenburg Gate is also close by, just a ten minute walk away.
